Retention Rules

To comply with legal requirements and also to prevent the inadvertent deletion of archived emails, MailShelf supports retention rules to determine how long emails must be kept before they can be deleted.

So for example, if you use a retention period of 5 years, emails must be present at least 5 years and one day in the archive before they can be deleted from the archive.

You can set any retention period with up to 30 years but you can also decide not to set a retention period meaning that emails can be deleted from the archive at any time.

If required, you can permanently lock the given retention period helping you to comply with all legal requirements. Unless the retention policy has not permanently been locked, you are able to change the retention period at any time.

Due to the retention rules, you are able to fulfil all legal requirements so you are always on the safe side.
